The name of the collection is tied to the origins of the word thesaurus, from thesauros, meaning treasure. In its initial sense, the connotation it carried was dictionary or Encyclopedia. The collection advocates for what is living in our oceans and seas and is supposed to serve as an encyclopedia for those that are not aware of the creatures and beauty that lie beneath. The hope is that through awareness we will begin to take better care of our planet, even the parts which we might not see or be in direct contact with. Instead of polluting the seabed and poisoning aquatic life, we should be appreciating the jewels it embodies. Each piece showcases the exquisiteness and mysticism of the deep and calls each species residing there a treasure. Predominantly focused on bright colours, an exaggeration of what one would see diving, motivated by that first time you experience what you never knew existed and capturing the initial awe. The work also attempts to exhibit a lightness through stylistic choice. The viewer feels a sense of tranquility, instigating the calming and nurturing aspects of water.
